Biography
A musical journey
Marianne Green’s father always played music on the record player, and as a young teenager, she rediscovered his old Irish music albums. That was the beginning of a musical journey that resulted in the EP “By Yonder Town “in 2004 and now the album “Dear Irish Boy” in 2010.
Marianne Green grew up in Denmark, though strongly influenced by a mixed cultural background. With an Italian mother and a father half Danish and half English embracing different cultures is not strange and her love and curiosity has taken her as close as possible to the Irish music and dance culture. Caring for-, and deeply respecting, the treasure of Irish songs, Marianne Green has been especially attracted to the treasures of the North of Ireland, particularly County Down and Belfast where she has also made many friends.
Marianne Green is also an Irish step dancer working professionally the dance group “Green Steps” as well as a registered Irish dance teacher with An coimisiún le Rince Gaelacha, and co-founder of “Dark Green School of Irish Dancing.”
